In 1987, he graduated from the Kaunas Medical Institute. From 1988 to 1992, he worked at the Central Research Laboratory of the Kaunas Medical Institute. Since 1991 he has been teaching and working at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (until 1998 Kaunas Medical Academy, 1998–2010 Kaunas Medical University); Professor (2005). Since 1993, the head of the Family Medicine Clinic of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, and since 1998, the head of the Family Medicine Clinic of the Kaunas Clinics. 1995-97 World Bank primary health care expert in Lithuania, since 1997 - in Armenia. Together with others, he founded the magazine Šeimas sveikata , in 1995-97 he was its editor, and since 1998 he has been the editor-in-chief of the magazine Lithuanian General Practitioner . The most important area of ​​scientific work is the strategy of developing family medicine in Lithuania.
